Gangrenous Cholecystitis

I came across this interesting tweet today:

Father-of-two Edd Langmead, 44, from Oldham dropped six stone on Mounjaro fat jabs he bought privately online, then on March 19 what he thought was just trapped wind pain hit him hard, he tried over-the-counter remedies but within three days the agony left him doubled over on the floor barely able to speak, his terrified partner rang an ambulance as he feared he was leaving his kids without a dad, doctors diagnosed gangrenous cholecystitis – his gallbladder had turned septic with tissue dying and infection spreading fast, he needed emergency surgery to have the organ removed and surgeons told him he was lucky to survive, the dad is now recovering with pipes hanging out of him, unable to walk or lie down properly, feeling like he's in his nineties, Edd is warning others the rapid weight loss triggered the life-threatening complication and to never buy these jabs privately without GP blood tests.

However, as someone replying to this tweet said:

This of course is exactly what happened to me back in 2016 after I lost about 14kg over a few months, dropping from 77kg to 63kg. Here are Gemini's comments:

The Mechanism of Gallbladder Stress

When a person loses weight very quickly—whether through extreme dieting, fasting, or bariatric surgery—the body’s metabolism shifts in ways that directly impact the gallbladder:
  • Cholesterol Supersaturation: During rapid weight loss, the liver secretes more cholesterol into the bile. If the ratio of cholesterol to bile salts becomes unbalanced, the bile becomes "supersaturated," leading to the formation of gallstones.
  • Reduced Gallbladder Motility: When caloric intake is severely restricted, the gallbladder does not contract as frequently as it should to empty bile. This stasis allows sludge and stones to build up, increasing the risk of infection.
  • Inflammation and Necrosis: If a stone blocks the cystic duct, the resulting pressure and inflammation can cut off the blood supply. This leads to ischemia (tissue death), which is the defining characteristic of gangrenous cholecystitis.

If only I'd known. Anyway, I'm still alive but minus a gall bladder. Life goes on.

A Therapeutic Shot

Although it's been several weeks now since I've imbibed coffee, I decided today to indulge in a cup again in an effort to reestablish a more regular sleep pattern. For some time now I've fallen into the habit of sleeping for about four hours during the day and another four hours at night. The two periods are widely separated.

The problem has become more acute of late as I seemed to be sleeping far more than I should be. I woke up today about 1am and normally I would have slept or still be sleeping now at 2pm. Instead I decided to drink a cup of coffee in an effort to stimulate myself to stay awake until after dark. By the time the caffeine wears off, it will hopefully be around 7pm to 8pm and I can sleep for eight or so hours and get up around 3pm to 4pm.

Balzac's work habits were legendary. He wrote from 1 am to 8 am every morning and sometimes even longer. Balzac could write very rapidly; some of his novels, written with a quill, were composed at a pace equal to thirty words per minute on a modern typewriter. His preferred method was to eat a light meal at five or six in the afternoon, then sleep until midnight. He then rose and wrote for many hours, fueled by innumerable cups of black coffee. He often worked for fifteen hours or more at a stretch; he claimed to have once worked for 48 hours with only three hours of rest in the middle. Source.

That's the plan anyway. I can only wait and see what happens. So far the caffeine is kicking in and I'm feeling "stimulated". I'm ready to write that novel that everyone has inside of them. I can understand what propelled Balzac, an inveterate coffee addict, to write as prodigiously as he did. The danger is that I'll revert to my previous addiction, a problem with every addict. While I'm tempted to indulge in an early morning cup of coffee on a regular basis, I certainly won't go back to drinking tea for the remainder of the day as I used to do. I'll stick to water.

Health-wise I seem to be OK but I find myself thinking that every twinge or pang is the harbinger of my demise. It's remarkable that my body has held up for this long (almost 74 years). I was watching a video of a young woman living in a van who a couple of years before suffered some health crisis that required the removal of her entire large intestine. She needs to use a colostomy bag for the rest of her life. It made me realise how fortunate I was to have enjoyed good health for so long. My only health crisis occurred in late July of 2016 when I needed to have my gall bladder removed. Hopefully my next health crisis will be far off and will be my last.

Psychic Questioning

I started this blog as a continuation of my former blog on WordPress at:

https://wordpress.com/post/seanreeves.wordpress.com

My first post was on the 28th September 2020 and since then I've made eight posts and one of them was earlier today. In this post, I asked the question:

Why did my thymus gland malfunction in the first place and create my current thymoma?

I described the answer that I received as follows:

You have a hollow heart and you're trying to fill up the gap that has been created. The thymus gland is associated with the Heart Chakra, a centre of unconditional love and forgiveness. Since a falling out with a family member a couple of years back I've been containing a lot of resentment and anger. In a sense, I've been hollowing out my heart and ridding it of compassion and understanding for the family member concerned.

I thought that listening to the Solfeggio frequency of 741 Hz, associated with the Heart Chakra, might help in healing especially if I focused on forgiveness. Tonight I listened again to the 14 minute YouTube video that I linked to at the time and I kept repeating the word "forgive". I felt this was preferable to saying "I forgive" because immediately the ego is strengthened by the use of pronoun "I". In the year or more that has passed since that post, I listened to the video only a few times and mainly in the weeks immediately following the post. After that, I largely forgot about because I post to this blog infrequently. I need to listen more frequently.

You can be your own psychic!

In my next post, on the 4th September 2020, the asked the question:

What happened to my gall bladder?

Manganese. As I wrote in that post, "I was lying in bed preparing for sleep and the question was only asked half-heartedly but an answer came back as quick as a flash: 'manganese'". I then set about investigating this element and its possible link to the development of gallstones. I was impressed with what I found.

A third and final question, that I wrote about in the same post, can be described as follows:

I asked a question for a friend of mine who has small fibre neuropathy but who is also on antidepressants. I asked what would help his peripheral neuropathy and the answer came back "iodine" with an image of mixing bowl filled with a yellow powder.  Again I set about investigating iodine and its possible efficacy in treating small fibre neuropathy and was impressed with what I found. I passed the information on to my friend who announced that he would mention it to his doctor. My friend had long ago put all his faith in the medical profession so I'm sure that no action was taken.

So after three "psychic" questions and three quite interesting answers, I stopped and haven't asked a question since. Perhaps it's time to resume. Questions and answers relating to physical matters can be posted to this blog while more metaphysical questions and answers can be posted to my my Mystic Meanderings blog.
